Love Is A Losing Game

Day Twenty Nine — Hopes, dreams and plans for the next 365 days

Hopes and dreams? Seriously?? I have so many it's crazy!
Main ones: I'd like to travel somewhere whether it be Italy, Japan or Ireland. Who knows. Why not go Austrailia or South Korea? Yes, I want to travel.

I would also like to be successful here at UC Davis. I want at least ONE A. I don't want to get another C (although I doubt I'll make it happen).

Plans for the next 365 is go to school, be great at it, learn a lot, make friends, and get older, finally joing that group I want to join. Haha. Idk what else.

Fall in love?? Highly doubt it.

I hope I find a place to live soon...I hope I have a great summer, I hope I get to see my grandmother this summer, I hope my brother graduates, etc.

Quiero Olvidar Que Un Dia Me Hiciste Feliz

Day Twenty Seven & Twenty Eight: Your month and year in detail.

For this you can just check out my blog. It would take waaaay too long lol.

If Everything Was Everything But Everything Is Over

Day Twenty Six: Your Week in Great Detail
Last week was my Spring Break. I was determined to make this Spring Break a good one and I most certainly did. :)
On Saturday I went wine tasting with my roommate Tiffany, her friends Celine and Susan, Jeanette, Adrian and Liz.

First we went to Nayeli's work Domain Chandon. The landscape was so beautiful and the wine was sooo good. Loved it. From there we went to Marie Calendar's for lunch.

We also went to Mumm for the first time. It is like my fav now. It was sooo good! Brut Prestige baby. I'm addicted.

My Friend Frankie came on Sunday so AD and I went to visit him at his house. It was nice just catching up. On Monday I got my hair cut and I had a movie night at my house. We watched 2012 DO NOT WATCH THAT MOVIE. It pretty much sucked. lol. On Tuesday I went to the Sun Valley Mall with my roomie Krista for some much needed shopping. I didn't find much but I had fun just hanging out. After I went to Sushi Yu with Liz and AD for some all-you-can-eat sushi. BLISS.

On Wednesday I went Thrift/Antique shopping around Napa (mostly downtown) with my friend Adrian. It was fun, I ate some chocolate it was all good. This is a pic of downtown. Sorry it isn't such a great pic but I always forget to take pics and this was towards the end. Thursday was just a simple day. I dyed my hair black and hang out with my brother and watched tv.

On Friday night I went out to Applebees and Red Hen. I heart the Hen! Lizbeth, Frankie, Michelle and AD were there. Oh what a night. Had my first buttery nipple with a girl who swares she always wanted to sit next to me and my friends in our English class like 2 years ago but was too shy. ?? haha idk.
I ended up walking to Frankie's house because I drank and couldn't drive. As he skipped his way home AD stole a Mad Gab game from some person's driveway. Frankie then had his friend Vanessa pic us up and we went to Denny's where I saw Lizbeth's cousin Aleyda, her mom and her gf...but I was too gone to really know what was going on. Oh dear.

Saturday, well I explained that last post but here is a pic of Ad, Liz and me on Bart. heart.

Oh what a day :)

Day Twenty Five: Your Day in Great Detail.

So i got up around 10:30 a.m., which was early because i had a long night the day before. The plan was to go to my friend Frankie's house at 1:00 p.m. to for a wine & cheese get together. However, he had family issues so we were unable to meet :(

Instead Lizbeth, Adrian and I went to subway around 2ish and we had a picnic at Fuller Park. It was a beautiful sunny day and i was wearing one of the dresses i bought in SF with AD a few weeks ago (the white one).

From there we decided we should go to the SF for dinner. :) So Liz went to her house to change and AD and I hung out at the park by my house while we waited.

Except she was taking waaaaay too long so we decided to wait for her outside her house. Then we were on our way to Sf for yummy cheesecake.

I left my car outside Jesus' apartment and we took bart from there. There was a 1 1/2 hour wait at the Cheesecake. We eventually decided to just buy the food to go and eat it at Jesus'. By the time we got to Jesus' apartment it was close to 10. He had gone shopping with his friends so he wasnt even back yet.

As we were eating our food on the steps one of his friends showed up. Soon after Jesus and his friends arrived. At his apartment we smoked hookah and i watched as they drank and did stuff...;)

Boy was it fun...Liz had to work the next day at 7am so sadly we had to leave early.

When I got home I watched Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion. <3>

The end.

Love in a Photo Booth

Day Twenty Four: Whatever Tickles Your Fancy

One of my favorite things to do is take pics in a photo booth. I am not sure exactly why they appeal to me so much but they do. Anyway, I decided to post this one up because I watched New Moon today. I haven't exactly read the books but hopefully one day I will. I am so excited to watch Eclipse!

Peace & Love,

Mia

Memories mar my mind, Love is a fate resigned.

Day Twenty Three: A YouTube Video

Amy Winehouse: Love is a Losing Game.
If only she stopped doing drugs. Her voice is amazing. All I want is for her to come out with a new album.

For I am the first and the last.
I am the honored one and the scorned one.
I am the whore and the holy one.
I am the wife and the virgin.
I am she whose wedding is great,
and I have not taken a husband.
I am the bride and the bridegroom,
and it is my husband who begot me.
I am the solace of my labor pains.
I am senseless and I am wise.
Come forward to childhood,
and do not despise it because it is small and it is little.
And do not turn away greatnesses in some parts from the smallnesses,
for the smallnesses are known from the greatnesses.

I am the one who is honored,
and who is praised,
For I am knowledge and ignorance.
I am shame and boldness.
I am shameless; I am ashamed.
I am control and the uncontrollable.
I am strength and I am fear.
I am war and peace.
Give heed to me.
I am the substance and the one who has no substance.
But I, I am compassionate and I am cruel.
Do not hate my obedienceand do not love my self-control.
I am the union and the dissolution.
But I am she who exists in all fearsand strength in trembling.
I am she who is weak, and I am well in a pleasant place.
And I am an alien and a citizen.
I am the substance and the one who has no substance.
I am the silence that is incomprehensible
and the idea whose remembrance is frequent.
I am the voice whose sound is manifold
For I am the first and the last.

Day Twenty Two: A Website
If you haven't checked it out by now check out Lookbook.nu. Also, for all my gossip I always go to perezhilton.com. These two websites are my guilty pleasures. I know it isn't the best idea to spend as much time on these sites as I do but they help while I procrastinate on writing a paper. They help keep me sane. Amen. CHECK'EM OUT!

Marsala Chicken and Mushroom Casserole

Day Twenty One: A Recipe
TRY THIS! It is really good. It is a recipe I got from Everyday With Rachel Ray. Truuuust, you will be making this again and again. =]

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter
10 ounces sliced mushrooms
1 1/2 tablespoons flour
1/2 cup marsala wine or white wine
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons chopped flat-leaf parsley
Salt and pepper
1 cup long-grain rice
2 packed cups coarsely chopped rotisserie chicken
2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350°. In a large skillet, heat the butter over medium-high heat until just melted. Add the mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle the flour on top and stir in for 1 minute. Stir in the marsala and cream and simmer, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened, about 3 minutes. Stir in 2 cups water, the parsley, 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper.

In a greased 9-inch-by-13-inch casserole, spread the rice in an even layer; top with the chicken. Pour the mushroom gravy on top. Cover snugly with foil and bake until bubbly, about 35 minutes. Discard the foil, sprinkle the parmesan on top and bake for 5 minutes more.

Oh The Places You Will Go

My hobbies:
I love to read, watch movies, write letters to friends, dance, sing, learn. Many things give me pleasure. Anything that lets me learn something new or experience something new is good to me. =]

Day Seventeen: An Art Piece
She is currently working on this lovely duckling. =]

Some Much Needed Therapy

H&MForever 21Urban OutfittersH&MH&M
Accessories H&M

This weekend I went for some much needed shopping with my buddy Adrian and this is what I bought. I also got a white cardigan, two Nars lipsticks in Jungle Red and Señorita, some shoes and a bag but I was too lazy to take pics of those lol.
This trip made me realize I need a higher paying job. Or I just need to learn how to save. Either way I did not have enough money that day!
I also want to spend the whole day shopping in Berkeley. Maybe during Spring Break?

There's nothing I wouldn't do, to have just one more chance, to look into your eyes and see you looking back

Day Sixteen: A Song That Makes You Cry (or nearly)

A song I won't hear at all anymore is Hurt by Christina Aguilera. I just can't
.

I'm Pretty Much a Lyric Kinda Girl.

Day Fifteen: A Fanfic
It's not like i really know what a fanfic is but I am guessing it's stuff like this. I could be wrong. Anyway, this is some stuff people made from my favorite show One Tree Hill.

Lucas and Peyton

"I keep my ideals, because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart."

Day Fourteen: A Non-fictional Book

"I don't believe the war is simply the work of politicians and capitalists. Oh no, the common man is every bit as guilty; otherwise, people and nations would have rebelled long ago! There's a destructive urge in people, the urge to rage, murder, and kill. And until all of humanity, without exception, undergoes a metamorphosis, wars will continue to be waged, and everything that has been carefully built up, cultivated and grown will be cut down and destroyed, only to start all over again!"
- Anne Frank, The Diary of Anne Frank

It just blows my mind how this little girl was able to share her story with us. The situation she was in, her age, everything just wow. There are no words...I wish I could explain it but I can't =(

Paramore: The Only Exception

This sums it all up. It's how I feel. Basically, what I want, what I am looking for.

In my mind, I'm probably the biggest sex maniac you ever saw. - J.D Salinger

Day Thirteen: A Fictional Book
I've been wanting to read this book for awhile.

Usually when things have gone this far people tend to disappear...nothing would surprise me unless you do.

Day Twelve: Whatever Tickles Your Fancy Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson. I bought a Nars lipstick in Jungle Red this weekend and it kind of looks like the one Mary-Kate is wearing in this pic. =] Audrey Tautou. She did an amazing job playing Coco in Coco Before Chanel. She is gorgeous.
I want to see this movie!!! THE END.

"When Things Get Hard You Just Walk Away"

And all the while all I want to do is sleep. Don't fight people. Just don't. Peace.

Beauty and The Beast

Day Ten: A Photo Of You Taken Over Ten Years Ago

Humid summers in Texas have been a yearly thing since I was eight months old. This is a pic with my first dog named Brownie. Yes, I know, way different then my current dog named Brownie. lol.

Word.

Be not the slave of your own past. Plunge into the sublime seas, dive deep and swim far, so you shall come back with self-respect, with new power, with an advanced experience that shall explain and overlook the old.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

I've always been a fan :)

Day Nine: A Photo You Took
I took this pic while waiting to get into the stadium. My roomies and I decided to go to a UCD football game. It was a lovely sunny day. Sun was making me melt, I was a nice tan color. Our team won and all was good. Reminded me of my high school days when every friday was game night. =] Go Aggies!

Sometimes I Wonder Why?

Day Eight: A Photo That Makes You Angry/Sad
We live in a world with so many natural resources. I live in a country where people eat what we should eat in a week all in one day. I see friends throw away left overs, we buy too many groceries that end up going bad without us giving them a second look. And then there are people starving. Not "I haven't eaten all day, I'm starving" starving. But truly have nothing to eat. Mothers desperately trying to find something for their children to eat. I don't get it. I wish it wasn't like that.

I Should Be Writing the 3 Papers That Are Due Tomorrow

But I just can't do it. I've been at it for about eight hours now with no success. I am not even half way done with Paper #1.

Pray for me. It will be a long night. I leave you with this:

A picture of where I wish I could be.

Blue Skies, Lovely Memories

Day Seven: A Photo That Makes You Happy
Spent the day in SF with my buddy Jesus. The whole day was wonderful. We shopped, watched Babel, walked while soaking the lovely uv rays, it was wonderful. I love SF. After, we met up with my friend Lizbeth and went off to Oakland where we saw The Pussycat Dolls, Danity Kane and CHRISTINA AGUILERA perform. It was definitely one of the happiest days I've had. =]This is right outside the Oracle Arena after seeing Christina Aguilera perform. I had always wanted to see her live. It was amazing. She is truly gifted.

Someone Emailed Me This Today. I Thought I Would Share It With You

BLIND GIRL
There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. She hated
everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She
told her boyfriend, 'If I could only see the world, I will marry you.' One
day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off,
she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend.

He asked her, 'Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?' The
girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The sight of his
closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected that. The thought of
looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him.

Her boyfriend left in tears and days later wrote a note to her saying:
'Take good care of your eyes, my dear; for before they were yours, they
were mine.'

This is how the human brain often works when our status changes.
Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who was always by
their side in the most painful situations.

Life Is a Gift

Today before you say an unkind word - Think of someone who can't speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone who
has nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone who's
crying out to GOD for a companion, or a loss of one.

Today before you complain about life - Think of someone who died too early
on this earth.

Before you complain about your children - Think of someone who desires
children but they're barren.

Before you argue about your dirty house someone didn't clean or sweep -
Think of the people who are living in the streets.

Before whining about the distance you drive Think of someone who walks the
same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the
unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job.

But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another -
Remember that not one of us is without sin.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on your
face and think: you're alive and still around.

Inspiration

Day Six:Whatever Tickles Your Fancy
Here are some pics =]
The best part of going out is getting ready =]. I like to put on music and take my sweet time getting ready. I have fun just applying makeup and trying on clothes, always of course with a glass of wine. =]She shares her story with the world. She told you she was trouble before you saw her fall. Her songs inspire me. Her honest lyrics move me. I sing her songs as if they are my story and I don't hold back.
The car I wish I had. =] classic black convertable with red leather interior

I'm not interested in money. I just want to be wonderful.

Day Five: Favorite Quote
So by now I've realized I don't have ONE favorite of ANYTHING. I will just choose one person, Marilyn Monroe, and share m favorite quotes from her. =]

I knew I belonged to the public and to the world, not because I was talented or even beautiful, but because I had never belonged to anything or anyone else.
-- Marilyn Monroe
Sometimes I feel the same way. Where do I belong? I belong to no one. And no one belongs to me. Performing is what I love the most. Whether it's making my friends laugh, singing, writing or dancing, I feel like i was put on this Earth to entertain. =]

It's often just enough to be with someone. I don't need to touch them. Not even talk. A feeling passes between you both. You're not alone.
-- Marilyn Monroe

I love talking. I am always talking but if I am silent with you...well I am never silent with anyone. Silence is intimate. Like speaking without speaking. Just looking into someones eyes and not saying a word. I am the most vulnerable when I am silent.

No one ever told me I was pretty when I was a little girl. All little girls should be told they're pretty, even if they aren't.
-- Marilyn Monroe

No one ever told me either. In fact, I was told the opposite and for a long time i believed it. End of story.

Beneath the makeup and behind the smile I'm just a girl who wishes for the world.
-- Marilyn Monroe

Of God how true this is for me. I am easily satisfied. I am still amazed with the beauty of people, nature, and human creations. There is so much beauty in this world and I just want to experience it all. I want to make people happy, have people make me happy, love, live, dance, eat, travel, read, explore, see everything. The world is my love. I fall in love with it each and every day.

“If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all.” - Oscar Wilde

Day Four: Favorite Book
So basically I dont have a favorite book. Seriously? Like no. haha I have many books I love for different reasons.

I like:
Como Agua Para Chocolate by Laura Esquivel because it is one of the few books I have been able to read entirely in Spanish.
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky..not really sure why but it's one of those books I can read over and over again without getting tired of it. =]
Harry Potter Books #1 and #5 because they are the only ones i own and have read but they are really good! lol.
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley- for some reason I was expecting the book to be different. IDK like what i saw on tv. this was better.
Paradise Lost by Milton. Seriously like this rocked my world. haha. I can read it over and over again and find something new and exciting each time. He was like a genius in my opinion.
I enjoyed reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen ( the second time cuz the first time i hated it!)
ANY BOOKS ABOUT ITALY! haha or books in Italian. Poetry!! DANTE. love love love.
The Diary of Anne Frank- seriously. it's intense.
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series because I used to read those the minute they cam out. I was addicted!

Man if I had more time in the day, if I didn't do so many things as i do, not join clubs, not work, not make friends, I would spend my whole day reading because it brings me such joy.

And remember, never judge a book by its movie!
